2 〔信用する〕 trust; believe in…; have confidence [faith] in…; 〔信頼する〕 depend [rely] on….

●自分の力を信じる rely [depend] on oneself.

●私は彼を信じている. I believe in [trust] him. | I have confidence in him.

・あなたはまだ彼のことが信じられませんか. Are you still unsure about him?

・君を信じてこの仕事を任せよう. I am entrusting you with this job because I have confidence in you.

3 〔信仰する〕 believe 《in…》; have faith 《in…》.

●仏教を信じる believe in Buddhism.

●彼らは神を信じている. They have faith in God.

・信じるものは救われる. Those who believe [have faith] shall be saved.
